TODAY'S COMMUNITY

The Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers is nestled in the LaCloche Foothills region of Lake Huron's North Shore, encompassing a large rural area including the communities of Walford, Massey and Webbwood.

Incorporated in July of 1998, the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers offers all of the convenience of urban living amidst tranquil rural surroundings.

While larger urban centres such as Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie are only a short drive away, our many local retail and service establishments easily meet the needs of our residents, visitors and businesses alike.

A well-staffed medical clinic, volunteer fire department, two libraries,  arena facility, two community halls, outdoor rinks, restaurants, great outdoors and farming history are but a few reasons why visitors to our community often become long-term residents.

A friend and I were invited by relatives to visit this museum while attending a weekend of family reunion activities. I was very impressed by the size of the museum for such a small town.  The museum was very clean and all items were displayed spaciously. Tours were available and the guides were knowledgeable and personal. Guides did not hurry their guests and took time to answer all questions. There is an elevator for those unable to use the stairs. The items displayed brought back memories of my parents and grandparents as I recognized having seen several items as being the same as I had seen in their homes. The store had many hand crafted items for sale which were made and donated by local crafts men and women. Prices were quite reasonable. I would suggest visiting this museum to all, especially families. Take time to explore. This museum is definitely worth your time!
