2020 Feature Artist: May Cameron

May was born in Southern Ontario but has travelled and lived throughout Canada. Her choices in art have been influenced by 20 years living in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories and her favourite subjects are children, historical Inuit and Indigenous people.
Currently retired in Massey, Ontario, May has a small art gallery with her partner Bruce Indoe, who is also a sculptor and wildlife artist. The Spanish River Fine Arts and Crafts Gallery at her home in Massey is an adventure in all forms of art and expression.
May’s main focus is on portraits and the diversity of people. Her medium includes charcoal, pastel, graphite, and recently has expanded to oil and ink roughing techniques. She is self taught through experience and observation. Throughout her life she has done work in pottery, clay sculpting, textile crafting, doll making, and tufting. You will find her artwork in homes from Pacific Coast to Atlantic Coast to Arctic Coast.
May’s motto in life is "If I haven’t done it before, it’s waiting for me to try”.
