2016 ART SHOW featuring Theresa Minten
August 13th-28th

Theresa Minten was raised in the Northern Ontario village of Walford in the Township of Sables - Spanish Rivers. This beautiful, rugged land, situated in the Cambrian Shield, filled with lakes, rock outcroppings and trees compelled her to draw and paint at an early age. She studied graphic design at Humber College and works in the field. She studied oil painting with Victor Sullivan in Orangeville and attends a variety of workshops as there is always something to learn about art. Painting “plein air” has led to a better understanding of colour and light resulting in exciting dimensions in her work.
She has really enjoyed teaching Beginner and Intermediate Oil Painting for The Learning Enterprise-Upper Grand District School Board Night School Program, in Orangeville. Two art groups, The Orangeville Art Group and Brushfire Artists, have greatly influenced Theresa's artistic development as well as forging lifelong friendships with fellow artists.
Theresa resided in Orangeville for many years and has just moved back to her home town of Walford. She is very pleased to be living in this spectacular area again and looks forward to creating new and exciting artworks with so much inspiration readily available.

2014 ART SHOW featuring Andrew Commanda
Andrew Commanda has lived in Massey for the last three years and he is originally from Serpent River First Nation. He started painting as a hobby and by making gifts for family and friends. His hobby has developed into a full range of creative skill including making ash baskets (learned at a teenager), carving wooden bowls or painting on antlers and other found objects. His baskets start from choosing the right tree in the woods and his paintings start as dreams.
"I usually dream about my paintings and the way they're supposed to be done. Sometimes it takes me forever to get one done."
His paintings feature man animals and natural forms in a Woodland style and he has an eye for striking colour and design. There are many elements evident of his Ojibwe culture, teachings and lore in his work.
The 31st Annual Jessie Burnside Arts Show and Sale is his first feature show.
