FILLED - INTERN CURATOR
​

About the Job: The Intern Curator will report to the Curator and work to manage exhibitions, conserve collections, create and supervise public programs, deliver educational tours, work with students and volunteers, and encourage fundraising activities.  Other related duties will be assigned as they arise. This is a one year position, full time, 35 hours per week.

About the Massey Area Museum: We are located in the heart of Sables-Spanish Rivers Township along the North Shore of Lake Huron.  This region’s economy has been built on natural resources, starting with the fur trade and progressing through logging, farming and mining.  The Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation is a part of the region. Today our lakes, rivers, and forests also support tourism based on fishing, hunting, camping and boating.  Highway 17 runs through our communities.

Qualifications:
  • University or college graduate who has graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university. The candidate must be a graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program. The position will be a first full-time employment in the candidate’s field of study.
  • A college or university degree which includes courses in History, Museum Studies, Education, Museum Management, or Curatorship or related fields.
  • Certification in any of the following is helpful:  Native studies, French, Computer studies
  • Personal qualities should include good people skills, well developed oral and written communication skills, creativity, enthusiasm, cultural sensitivity and the ability to work independently.
